Tanner went to Sacred Heart Academy in Redlands for middle school and he belongs to the Holy Name of Jesus parish in Redlands. He said his family and friends inspired the High Character, Ethics, Solid Citizen, and an Avid-Learner Standards that enabled him to win this award. |
Isuara Hernandez - Scholarship Awardee
Isuara Hernandez is a member of St Catherine of Siena parish of Rialto and attended grade school there before attending Aquinas. Isuara said her immigrant parents taught her attitudes towards hard work, responsibility, and accountability that make a difference. |
Lillian Craikaeg - Scholarship Awardee
Lillian Craikaeg graduated from St Catherine’s of Siena, in Rialto, California before attending Aquinas. She said, “My Parents are my main inspiration - they faced many challenges and always taught me to work hard for what I want.” |
Bol Dhieu - Scholarship Awardee
Bol Gol Muorabol Dhieu came to Aquinas as a Junior from South Sudan. His favorite subjects are biology, mathmatics, and physics, and he plays basketball. His goals are to get an athletic scholarship to college, to compete with the best athletes in college, and then play professionally after college. He also wants to provide for his family, the community at large, and be a role model for others. Bol said his family inspires him to be great everyday as does his experience growing up in South Sudan. Bol grew up helping young Sudanese learn to play basketball and volleyball. During COVID he helped distribute supplies and educate people in rural areas there. He said he strives to be part of something bigger than himself..."If I become the person I want to be, I will change the lives of a lot of people." |
Maximo Villerreal - Scholarship Awardee
Maximo Villarreal graduated from St Catherine of Siena Grade School in Rialto, California. “God is my main inspiration because of the sacrifices he made. I also love the fascinating world of engineering and science,” Maximo said. |
Mr Marcus James - Excellence in Teaching Award
Mr Marcus James, Aquinas High School Science Department Chair and Assistant Director of Classroom Technology has a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Texas A&M and BA in Chemistry from CSU San Bernardino. He was selected by the School Principal, Dr Amanda Egan; and a select board using guidelines from the Lariviere Society. Marcus said what inspires him to teach is “the ability to show my students many different fields of science that they can study. This makes it easier for them to select a career or field of study they are truly passionate about”. Congratulations to Mr Marcus on receiving this award! |
